We use proven and effective counseling and psychotherapy methods such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), energy therapies, i.e., thought field therapy (TFT), emotional freedom technique (EFT) and holographic memory resolution (HMR). Group sessions are also available at Life Worth Living, PC.
For neurotherapy at Life Worth Living, PC, we use only hospital quality, FDA registered equipment and have five different types of neurofeedback equipment to match the patient's needs with the best technology designed to improve the brain’s functioning.
We specialize in psychological testing, which combines quantitative analysis from EEGs and standard psychological and neurological tests to accurately provide a psychological profile of individuals' performance.
We also partner with highly qualified practitioners that consult on nutrition and supplements to maintain health and wellness.

James A. Kowal, PhD, MS, LCPC, BCN Dr. Kowal completed his first 30 year career as a Manager of Software Engineering and Development at Bell Laboratories and Adjunct Professor at North Central College where he was the co-founder of the Computer Science Department. He is a Board Certified Neurotherapist (BCIA) and presenter at the International Society of Neuroregulation and Research (ISNR), Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress (AAETS), Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), Approved Consultant (EMDRIA) and trained instructor in EMDR by the EMDR Institute, Certified Sex Therapist (AASECT), Certified Thought Field Diagnostic Therapist (TFTdx) and an Approved Trainer for the Callahan Techniques.
Dr. Kowal has specialized in complexed psychological trauma and neurotherapy for the past 30 years. He has helped thousands of people come to live their lives at peace.
Dr. Eric To, PsyD, Dr. To specializes in advanced neurofeedback systems, such as Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomographic Analysis (LORETA) and direct neurofeedback and electromagnetic stimulation trainings. He is also trained in psychological and neuropsychological testing and quantitative EEG analysis.
Karin Johnson, PsyD
Dr Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist practicing for 25 years. She provides EEGs for Life Worth Living, PC patients and talk therapy specializing with adults who have issues with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); histories of childhood trauma; and survivors dealing with grief.
Helping people process their loss; build on their strengths and coping skills is her strategy to help increase clients self-esteem and self-confidence.
Mel Kats, MS, MSEd, LCPC, BCN
Mel holds a Master of Science in Special Education, with a focus on learning and emotional disorders, as well as a Master of Science in Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board-Certified in Neurofeedback therapy. With over 14 years of experience in the neurofeedback field, Mel specializes in the Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS), Coherence training, and traditional neurofeedback protocols. Her combined clinical and educational experience allows her to provide a comprehensive, personalized approach to care. Utilizing this integrated framework, she works with some of the most challenging patients and supports clients through customized neurofeedback treatments in improving attention, behavior, emotional regulation, and overall functioning. Many patients and their families have noted that Mel’s dedication, compassion, and encouraging approach have also significantly contributed to enhanced treatment progress and successful outcomes for both children and adults.
Mary Kay Murdoch MS, LCPC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and is a trained EMDR therapist by the EMDR Institute. As an eclectic mental health counselor she provides compassionate, personalized support for a wide spectrum of challenges - from everyday situations to complex trauma. Her integrative approach draws from various therapeutic modalities, adapting treatment to your specific needs and circumstances. Whether you are navigating life transitions, managing anxiety, processing trauma, or seeking personal growth, she offers a safe space where healing can begin. Both in person and virtual sessions are available.
Diane "Dove" Wilson, MA, LCPC, BCN
Diane (Dove) Wilson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Board Certified in Neurofeedback with a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and is currently pursuing Diplomat in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. She has over 25 years experience as a psychotherapist and personal coach, helping her clients with issues including sleep, anxiety, focus, depression and navigating major career/life transitions. She is the bestselling author of a book called "Brain Dance" and has a popular column on Substack called "Sleep and Life."
